Park Seed
One of Park’s most popular products is from its Garden Supplies, the Bio Dome. Bio Domes can handle a choice of planting block sizes. The planting blocks come in 60 – Original, 40 – Jumbo, or 18 – Whopper plant-cell sizes.
The Bio Dome and planting block combo give seeds exactly what they need to germinate. The clear plastic top provides climate control by keeping warmth inside this mini-greenhouse. Two adjustable vents on the plastic top give good air circulation at all times.
The planting block is an innovative design. It sits loosely in the green plastic base at the bottom of the Bio Dome. Each planting block’s plant-cell openings receive a “bio sponge.” One plant seed goes into a drilled hole in the middle of each sponge. Then, enough lukewarm water is poured into the Bio Dome’s green base until the planting block floats.
The sponges “wick up” or soak up the water they need, keeping the seeds moist for germination. The advantage of the sponges is that they permit the plant seedlings to develop strong roots throughout the “bio sponges”.
Transplanting is easy, too. The whole sponge and its seedling is removed from the planting block and planted into a garden or a pot. The seedling’s roots hold together when it’s transplanted and the result is a very healthy plant.
Also, Park Seeds offers several herb collections. The Beginner’s Herb Garden Collection includes: Calendula; Basil; Peppermint; Oregano; and Parsley. There is one seed packet for each herb. Here is a good way to get started growing herbs.
Another collection is Park’s Culinary Herb Garden. This collection includes: Dill, English Thyme, Greek Oregano, Chives, Spearmint, Sweet Marjoram, Basil, Parsley, and Cilantro. It gives you many of the culinary herbs used in the kitchen to prepare delicious herb-seasoned meals. And it costs quite a bit less than buying “fresh” bunches of these herbs at the supermarket.
Plus, there are three other herb collections. Park’s Culinary Basil collection includes four different basils. Park’s Herbal Tea Collection contains nine different herbs that you can use to brew herbal teas. And the Organic Herb Collection consists of seven herbs: Basil; Cilantro; Dill; Thyme; Chives; Parsley; and Oregano.
The George W. Park Seed Company provides a complete variety of gardening products to get your garden started easily and growing well.
